Industrial Gas Turbine Engine Application

Project: Natural Gas Fuel System Gas Turbine Engine Combustion Research Department.

To enable advanced combustion system studies to be conducted for industrial gas turbine engine power sets operating on natural gas, our client required a high pressure and high capacity automatically controlled gas fuel delivery system to be installed in their laboratories. This new facility operates at up to 160 bar supply pressure and delivers parallel fuel feeds to the engine's main/pilot burners. The fuel system is controlled by a Cussons "Autotest" computer enabling both air fuel ratio and main-pilot burner sweeps to be operated directly over wide ranges of mass flow. The Autotest system is also responsible for all aspects of test rig data management and provides comprehensive monitoring of critical operating and facility parameters. Cussons, under a fixed cost contract, will provide all systems design, hardware manufacture and installation services. Also to ensure the safe handling of gaseous fuels within the test area, attention will be given to building security, ventilation arrangements and environmental surveillance.
