In 1992 Cussons teamed with a major U.S. based specialist engineering contractor to create a completely new advanced performance combustion research facility targeted at the new generation technology gas turbine engine combustion systems The laboratory objective is to enable combustors to be operated at current and future envisaged engine ratings under controlled conditions and with extensive data gathering/emissions survey capabilities. The facility required the design and installation of numerous complex services operating at extreme ratings demanding the innovative use of materials and advanced control techniques. Cussons Autotest computer control and acquisition system has been used to operate the facility requiring the development of the latest powerful multi-processor Autotest solution to satisfy the application requirements. The project utilised approximately 50,000 hours of engineering design and project management resource.
