The requirement for this completely new facility was developed during the early 1990's and funding support obtained under the U.K. Government's Overseas Aid Programme, The facility due to be handed over to the client in mid-1998 will provide an advanced capability for engine and vehicle research programmes in support of the regions developing transportation and fuels utilisation objectives The laboratory has 12 engine test cells with a capacity of up to 400 kW, a modern vehicle emission test facility, comprehensive workshop resources and design/rig test provisions to support a wide range of component programmes. Cussons are directly responsible for the laboratory definition, monitoring the design and construction of the buildings together with the design and supply/installation of all aspects of specialised services and testing systems. The laboratory will utilise Cussons' powerful Autotest  test facility control and data management systems. The programme also includes the provision of extensive technology training, support and work experience within an integrated single responsibility contract of approaching £15 million in value.
